Over the weekend I was perusing my favorite scrapbooking sites and there was a contest posted so I decided to throw my hat in the ring and see if I could somehow be one of the randomly selected lucky chicks who wins a whole box of scrapping stuff. Since I won a box of stuff last year, I didn't count on this good fortune again, but if you don't play you can't win! This morning I awoke to this message in my inbox.
SWEET! Winner winner chicken dinner - yahoo! Will post pics of my winnings once they arrive.
Miss Sydney got me a bit of California for my birthday - Sprinkles cupcake mix (Jessica and I went there when we were in CA for work a couple years back...ohh how I was in CA right now!). Andrea and Bryan were over for dinner last night so I decided to whip them up and figured I would have left over celebratory cupcakes for after our race today. They turned out perfectly delicious!
We had a snowday today, so I was able to knit myself a pair of cuffs. I used the 3 colors I had left over from knitting mom, Jill and Sarah a pair. It was a good chance for me to practice adding a color. Youtube videos are great for knitting because if I forget how to do something someone has posted a video on how to do it on youtube. Usually it only takes me about 6-8 times of watching the video to figure it out. Pretty snazzy if I do say so myself :-)
We have this little space between our downstairs bathroom and my scraproom and I found a frame set for a steal of a deal ($2) at a rummage sale quite a while back so Jeff hung the frames for me a couple weeks ago and this weekend I finally got them filled. It is my spin on the "Live, Laugh, Love" decorations you see all the time. I used "Lucky Me" paper by Little Yellow Bicycle.A couple other altered art projects I have done that I have in my scraproom are my initials that I covered in "Wildflower" paper from K&Co and my desk organizer. I found a clear organizer at Staples and then cut Que Sera Sera paper (also from K&Co) to fit around the organizer.
It is important of course to check your work before you give it to others...just like when you are cooking you always taste it before sharing with guests. So being the helpful puppy that he is, Chimmy went to work to make sure Jill's scarf was both warm and comfy. I think it passed the test. (and I finished it Saturday just in time for the ice skating parting.)
I was also able to get a couple more pairs of cuffs done for my mom and Sarah as well, now to make a pair for myself!
This past weekend Jenny hosted our 3rd annual "What I Want" party. In hopes of getting my goal board done that night I dug through my scrap stash the night before to see what I could find that would fit for what is going to be an awesome year! And low and behold I stumbled across my "Lucky Me" paper - how fitting. So with the help of my Cricut I cut a bunch of stuff out to use on my board and packed it up for the party. Jenny of course served her yummy punch and sausage cups mmmmm! And I was able to knock my board out. Here's how it ended up. I am especially excited about the space I made for things I am grateful for that I can add throughout the year (your bottom right).
And hopefully I will see some of you girls before next year!
It is only day 2 of 2011 and I already knocked out my first knitting project of the year! These comfy cuffs only took me two days and I am wearing them right now as I type. Jeff gave me an early birthday present which was a full set of knitting needles so I put them straight to use. Look for pink and purple versions coming soon!
