Subway Art

I love that PicMonkey exists now that picnik is no longer around.  I recently learned how to make some cute subway art using PicMonkey so I created these to put on the mantel in celebration of a very fun time of year!

Summer Yarn Wreath

Just finished this beauty last weekend, hoping to get some momentum going with my crafting.

Supplies:
Foam wreath form
yarn (the cheapest stuff you can find in a color you like)
felt
hot glue/gun
fabri-tac
pre-cut felt letters and owls
2 in Satin Ribbon

Step 1: Wrap foam form until completely covered with yarn - here's where you can bring in color or leave it white.  Consider your door color, if its dark like mine you may want to go with a light color if it is white or light gray you may want to do something a little darker.

Step 2: You make the felt flowers of your choice, I used rolled, folded "s", and the spaghetti looking type.  It's easier find detailed instructions either on pinterest or the web to make them.

Step 3: Adhere flowers in any fashion that looks nice to you - there is no set pattern.

Step 4: Cut out felt triangles and adhere precut letters  (welcome, your last name, or hello would make great phrases for the front door)

Step 5: Hot glue the pennants to rick rak or some other ribbon and the to the wreath.  Add the owls as a finishing touch

Step 6: Hang with a 2 in satin ribbon.

Viola!  Another great pinterest inspired craft :-)

Finished Pillow

I finished up 6 of these cuties just in time for the kiddos to eat all their Easter candy and not worry about their teeth falling out.  After I made my first one I got a great suggestion to add a ribbon handle so it could be hung on a bed post or door knob which I did do.  (Thank you Jessica).  I wish I would have taken pictures of all six before I gave them away but I missed the boat on that.  On a happy note this is like the 4th Pinterest inspired thing I have done so I am working my way to finishing those 1073 pins!

Up next a summer yarn wreath ;-)

Remember Way back When...

I first started this post in 2011...well I finally finished my paper topiary as part of a clean up and clean out of my scraproom - those photos to come soon after I get rid of my last little pile of stuff!

Fortune Frame

What do you do with all those fortunes from your take out Chinese? Glitter and glue them to an inexpensive picture frame of course! Add a couple felt flowers and you have your favorite fortunes preserved.

Materials:
Frame (Michael's)
Handmade felt flowers
Fortunes (various Chinese restaurants)
Glimmer Mist
Modge Podge (to glue and seal)

Creative in the Kitchen

We have been trying one new recipe every week or so. This week was meatball tortilla soup from the Oct 2011 issue of Cooking Light, you can find the recipe here. A nice smoky heat and very yummy!

Happy Birthday to Me!

I came home on my birthday to a shiny new Cricut Expression 2! It has a bit of a learning curve to use since everything is digital instead of using the keypads like the old models, but so far so good. It has some great features that let you cut much thicker materials. I can't wait to put this to the test!

What I want 4.0

Continuing our annual tradition, we all got together to make our "goal" boards. This year my board certainly had goals on it but is more of just a reminder of the important things in life and all about LOVE.

Scrap Weekender

We had one of our twice yearly scrap weekends up in Saginaw. I was able to finish a gift book that was long over due and 6 pages and started a 7th so overall not bad considering I packed for the weekend in about 30 minutes and tried to not page too too much.

Grapevine and Felt Wreath

Tis the season to glorify God and celebrate all that Jesus Christ did for us. May you blessed and full of His love.

The finishing touch on our main floor decorations. Felt flowers, feathers and a little hot glue and a lot of love can make some very pretty things.
